Minister for Social Welfare and MAHUD Shri Okram Henry today urged all the stakeholders to support and co-operate in uplifting the social, economic and political status of women in the State. This was stated by him at the felicitation ceremony organised by Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) at Kombirei Hall, DC Complex Imphal West today.
Chairperson MSCW Dr. Binota Meinam, Secretary Board of Secondary Education Manipur Dr. Chithung Mary Thomas, members of MSCW and others attended the function.
During the function, the Minister distributed the prizes to the winners of the online essay competition. On the occasion, the Minister also inaugurated a national webinar titled “customary laws, alcoholism, and substance abuse: a high voltage of domestic violence in North East India”.
Later in the afternoon, the Minister was accorded a warm welcome at a reception ceremony organized by Imphal Municipal Corporation at Gandhi Memorial Hall, Imphal.
Speaking at the function, Okram Henry Minister said that we all must work for the inclusive development in the State. The Minister sought the cooperation and coordination of Corporators of IMC and officials of MAHUD for the development in Municipality areas. He stated that there is a need for streamlining the department to improve efficiency and for better workflow. The problems and grievances faced by the employees of IMC will be addressed soon, he added. He maintained that regular review meetings will be held to monitor the status of any work undertaken by the department.
Mayor of IMC L. Lokeshwor Singh, Corporators of IMC, Director (MAHUD) Th. Harikumar Singh, officials of IMC and MAHUD and others were present during the function.
