SLR bullet hits Camera lens of video journalist on duty at Bishnupur district

Day 3 of the battlefield at Naranseina in Bishnupur district turned hostile as armed militants from hill range started firing toward journalists covering the event. Video journalist Ayekpam Langamba had a narrow escape from a long-range bullet firing from atop the hill at the southern side of Naranseina Maning Leikai. The bullet hits at his camera lens and refracted scratching the arm of a village defender staying some distance from the location of the video journalist.
“Sikh Regiment are deployed close to the site where the firing started”, Journalist Johnson of Local cable TV – Elite News said. He added that they are not sure whether the bullet was fired by the personnel of the Sikh Regiment or the armed Kuki militants.
Report said that at least 4 journalists have entered Ngangkhalaawai, and Thamnapokpi side after getting a report of sporadic gunshots over the last couple of days. 2 including a farmer were killed in the firing by armed Kuki militants and as many as 8 persons including 2 Security forces were injured in the unremitted firing by Kuki militants. Firing from the hilltop at the southern side of Naranseina again started since early morning today. And the firing continued till late evening today.
“Right now, we are hiding in the low canal of Paddy field in Naranseina Maning Leikai. We cannot stand or move as they keep firing towards us when notice our movement”, Journalist Johnson said.
“We are stranded and no security force are seen around”, Johnson told in a telephonic conversation with Elite TV News Editor.
