Imphal, November 05: A sit in demonstration supporting Human rights defender Sharmila’s struggle to demand repeal of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, (AFSPA) 1958 was held at the palace gate in Imphal today.
The sit in demonstration was organised by Asian Solidarity and Manipur people’s struggle for democracy. Manipur’s maira paibis led by the womenfolk organisation leaders, students, activists and other well wishers along with Binayak Sen, activist and national Vice-President of the People’s Union for Civil Liberties besides being paediatrician, public health specialist.
It was this very day that Irom Sharmila started her fast 15 years ago against the AFSPA. Today many people showed the solidarity to Irom Sharmila as she enters her 15th year of hunger strike.
