Imphal, April 06:
Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly today breaks down as he reminded a mother, who was a vendor lady of Singjamei market telling him that she would miss the Ema Market some few days back.
While inaugurating the newly constructed market shed at Singjamei, Khemchand said that he had met some 8 old aged women (vendor ladies) who had told him that they are eager to see the market constructed before they end their lives.
In connection with the construction of the market shed Khemchand said that it was the almighty that grant him the will to supervise the construction of the market. When I became MLA my wish was to place our titular king in a respectable position and construct the Singjamei Ema market shed. Both have been blessed and it was the almighty that make it possible, Khemchand said.
“There was no provision for the construction of Singjamei Ema Market, instead there was a plan and sanctioned amount for construction of traffic island. I have objected to it as I felt it unnecessary and diverted the fund for construction of Ema Market after consultation with the Chief Minister”, Khemchand said and appreciated the Chief Minister for making his dream into reality.
The inaugural function was also attended by the Mayor of Imphal Municipal Corporation L. Lokeshwor Singh, Chairperson of Bazar Committee, IMC L. Tombi Devi, Corporator of Ward No. 15 IMC Th. Bankim Singh, Corpetor of Ward No. 16 Th. Eliza Devi, Social Worker Yumnam Joybala Devi and President of Singjamei Ima Keithel N. Ibetombi Devi.
