Manipuri short film “Eewai” (The Ripple) has been awarded The Honourable Jury award in the 11th Delhi Shorts International Film Festival,2022 on the 6th November 2022 at Tivoli Grand Resort Hotel, New Delhi.
The short film is Directed by Bishwamittra, story written by Rebika, and Produced by Samir for Nongdol Mamikol banner. This Manipuri short fiction has already been officially selected for other seven International Film Festivals too, for which the Award Events are coming up shortly. The 11th Delhi Shorts International Film Festival, 2022, has 186 entries, out of which Erwai was among the 92 films got officially selected.
Eewai is about Contemporary Relevance of traditional norms and customary laws with special reference to a mother whose child died before attaining the age of 3 years in the Meitei community in Manipur. The 23.24 minutes prestigious Manipuri film is cinematographed by Romen, Edited by Mohendro, Music director Michael and National Awardee Thonthoi and Internationally acclaimed Rashi Devi in the lead roles.
