Drawing the attention of state government to restore peace at the earliest, General Secretary of MCM, Nongmaithem Inaocha today said that shops at Moreh will remain shut till the state government pay proper compensations to owners, whose shops have been destroyed during the recent clashed at the border town under Chandel district during ILP protest on August 18 this year.
Around 50 shops and houses were destroyed and goods were stolen during the recent clash between some Kuki people and pro-ILPS protestors at Moreh, said Inaocha while accepting donations from various organizations during a function held today at Manipur Press Club here.
Addressing the gathering, Inaocha said that many shopkeepers are still waiting for compensations from the government.
“All shops will remain shut till the compensations are paid to the owner”, said Inocha.
On today’s occasion Moirangkhom Sougaijam Leirak Women Welfare Association donated a sum of Rs 7000 to MCM.
Treasurer of the Association, Moirangthem Nalini Devi handed over the amount to the General Secretary.
Association of Physicians of India, Manipur Chapter has also donated a sum of Rs 30,000 to MCM.
Till today no form of compensation has been received from the govt. said Inaocha.
