Shiv Sena welcomes CM’s outreach, calls for broader peace efforts

The Manipur unit of the Shiv Sena has welcomed the recent peace outreach initiative of Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, while urging expansion of such efforts to other affected areas.
Addressing a press meet at the party office in Babupara, state president Dr M Tombi stated that similar visits should be undertaken to Kangpokpi, Moreh and Churachandpur to further strengthen confidence-building measures.
He noted that the ongoing crisis in Manipur has continued for nearly three years and described the Chief Minister’s recent visit to Jiribam and interactions with different communities as a positive step towards restoring peace.
Raising broader concerns, Dr. M. Tombi stated that many aspirations of the people remain unfulfilled even decades after Manipur’s merger with India. He called for concrete steps to address longstanding issues.
On the question of identifying citizens, he suggested 1961 as the base year and called for proper implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to safeguard indigenous interests.
He also highlighted concerns over restricted movement along national highways and stressed the need to restore normalcy across hill and valley areas. Further, he urged both the state and central governments to address security challenges, including cross-border issues and drug trafficking, through effective measures.
