Shirley Roy reappointed to SCO at Indian Embassy in Bangkok

The Embassy of India in Bangkok has reappointed Shirley Roy to continue supporting its community outreach efforts in Thailand, focusing on diaspora engagement, cultural events, and extending assistance to Indian community members when needed.
Originally from Manipur and based in Thailand since 2017, Roy has been actively involved with the Northeast Indian Society (NEIS) and other diaspora organisations. Her work includes organising cultural programmes, coordinating welfare support, and providing information during emergencies.
Recently, she played a key role in organising the NEIS concert in Bangkok on August 9, featuring singer Alobo. The event was attended by over 70 members of the Indian community, including the Ambassador of India to Thailand, his spouse, and senior Embassy officials. A highlight was the dedication of the song “Pyaar Ke Pal” to the Ambassador and his wife.
Roy also coordinated a successful fundraiser to support a widow after her husband’s sudden illness, raising more than three times the target amount. In addition, she served as a media contact after tremors from the Myanmar earthquake were felt in Bangkok, giving an interview to Impact News.
“I aim to help our community feel supported, connected, and informed,” Roy said.
