Sharmila produced before court

Irom Chanu Sharmila who has been undergoing fast-unto-death protest since the last 13 years demanding repeal of draconian act Armed forces special powers Act 1958 was produced to the court of CJM Imphal East. Chanu Sharmila has been remanded in judicial custody for another fifteen days. She will be again produce to the same court after 15 days.

You are the only Manipuri Media to report on this trial at the Uripok Cheirap Court the fourth day of Prosecution Witnesses. When this trial ends the only sentence the court can give is for Sharmila's release. I have no idea what the police will be instructed to do then. The reports of the local press do not tally with social media and the mainland press ignore both. I know she has tried to make statements to the press and sometimes scribes appear to record them but none of her actual words have made it to print. I hope this is the beginning of fresh reports about Irom Sharmila. If you aren't now punished for mentioning her name. Even if you can't publish you can read.

I am grateful to read at last some reliable information about the current situation of Irom Sharmila Chanu. I have scoured newspapers from Manipur and from Delhi in vain, looking for news. Please give your readers - international as well as local - more news of this wonderful woman, along with reports of any recent or forthcoming statements from her. Her voice is too important to be ignored.
