Political activist Irom Sharmila Chanu appeared before Patiala House Court again today morning.
Speaking to this reporter of Imphal Times, one of his aide said that she had been asked to re-appear before the court of Akash Jain (Metropolitan Magistrate) today at 10am.
Sharmila, who arrived at the national capital, appeared before the court on Friday in connection with a pending case over her hunger fast at Jantar Mantar in 2006.
She was accompanied by a Government Doctor, two Nurses, a lady Police Officer, two women constables and a JUl officer.
Irom Sharmila along with two doctors will give their statement.
Sharmila stated that the atrocities and human rights violations which occur in AFSPA imposed states could be avoided only after para-military forces are removed totally, and the tactics of violence will never bring solution to any problems or issues.
Meanwhile, the Anti- AFSPA campaigner, Irom Chanu Sharmila, condemned the ambush in Chandel district which led to the loss of at least 18 personnel of 6 Dogra regiment on Friday.
“I feel sad about the recent incident that led to the loss of lives of 18 jawans in Manipur just like how I feel bad for the many civilians killed over the years,” she said just before appearing at Patiala Court, New Delhi.
“All human beings are same but what is the use of AFSPA when the incident happened in an area where AFSPA was fully imposed. AFSPA only dehumanizes people and only creates problems for common people. AFSPA should be repealed,” she added.
She arrived at the national capital on 4th June from Imphal and is presently staying at Tikendrajit House, New Delhi.
