Senior Army officers call on Governor; Durand Cup preparations and security reviewed

The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Eastern Command, Lt. Gen. Ram Chander Tiwari, accompanied by GOC Spear Corps, Lt. Gen. Abhijit S. Pendharkar, and Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South), Maj. Gen. Ravroop Singh, met the Governor of Manipur,  Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at Raj Bhavan in Imphal today.
During the meeting, the GOC-in-C is learnt to have briefed the Governor on the preparedness and logistical arrangements being undertaken for the 134th edition of the Durand Cup, scheduled to be held in 2025. The officers also reportedly updated the Governor on the current security situation in the state and the broader security dynamics in the Northeastern region.
In a separate engagement, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla also chaired the General Council Meeting of the Manipur State Kala Akademi (MSKA) at Raj Bhavan. The meeting involved detailed discussions on various administrative and developmental matters of the Akademi, including the formation of Standing Committees. Initiatives to promote art, culture, and literature within the state, across the country, and to international audiences were also deliberated during the session.
