In commemoration of 150th Birth Anniversary of 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the District Administration of Senapati joined the nationwide celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh- State Level Tribal Carnival today at Multipurpose Hall, Senapati.
The celebration of honouring Tribal hero Bhagwan Birsa Munda- India’s most revered tribal freedom fighters and an enduring symbol of resistance against colonial oppression along with other tribal heroes began with the floral tributes to the portrait by the dignitaries and followed by showcasing tribal activities such as cultural dances and songs in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, Luckyson Ngamsha Kashung, IAS, Director, Tribal Affairs and Hills, Government stated that the event is being held together in parallel with the ongoing National Tribal Film Festival cum State Level Tribal Carnival which has been kicked off yesterday at City Convention Centre, Imphal in remembrance of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, a tribal freedom fighter. He also stated that it is culminated with Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas where the State will be joining the national level through online mode. He also highlighted on the background of the celebration on which the Government of India adopted on 2021 to recognize and appreciate all the tribal freedom fighters for their unwavering commitment of patriotic spirit and values. He urged the gathering to uphold the pride and value of the tribal by manifesting self- dignity. Besides, he mentioned that the department of Tribal Affairs and Hills is working tirelessly for upliftment of tribal empowerment through various programmes like PM JANMAN, DAJGUA and Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan. He gave his best wished for the celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh.
The Deputy Commissioner of Senapati, Mamoni Doley, IAS while delivering her speech welcomed the dignitaries, CSO’s, Tribal Leaders and its representatives to the programmes. She said programmes such as PM JANMAN, DAJGUA and Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan are conducted in the district block level and village level for tribal empowerment and development. She reiterated that the District Administration is also resolved to uplift the tribal communities to sustainability and empowerment through development. The DC continued exhorting the gathering to draw inspiration from Tribal freedom fighters who had lived their life with dignity in protecting identity and contributing to the unity and progress of the nation.
A brief note on PM DAJGUA, PM JANMAN and Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan implementation at Senapati district were presented by S. Plim Reikhenamai, MCS, AC to DC, Senapati and Pf. Lophro, SDO, Tadubi respectively.
As part of the programme, Cultural dances were performed by Maram Naga Tribe Katomei Centre Women Society, Poumai Naga Tribe and Saikul Khanglui Lompi and Cultural Songs by Lamhil Kuki Cultural Research Centre and Mao Naga Women’s Welfare Association.
Certificates of appreciation were distributed to all the SDOs/ BDOs all the district namely, Rang David Kung, MCS SDO Song Song, S. Lunguiba Thangal, MCS SDO Purul, Reikimdaar Khaling, MCS, SDO Paomata & Willong, Pf. Lophro, MCS SDO Tadubi and James Panii, MCS SDO Phaibung & Lairouching for successful implementation of Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan in Senapati district.
Besides, 6 stalls were opened by VDVKs, Handloom & Industries and Self- Help Groups displaying their finished product of handicrafts, shawls, pickles, fruits, and vegetables.
The programme was also attended by Shanngam S, IFS, DFO Senapati, Ningreingam Leisan, MCS, ADM/ ADC Senapati, DLOs, CSOs, Village Chiefs, Tribal Leaders, and its representatives.
