Imphal, Feb 15:
In the wake of the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur, security forces have intensified search operations and area domination exercises across vulnerable regions in both the hill and valley districts. The President Rule was imposed 4 days after N. Biren Singh tendered resignation from the post of Chief Minister on February 9 and the BJP MLAs unable to elect heir leader. The operations aim to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents in the state.
Meanwhile, authorities have ensured the movement of essential goods along the national highways. A total of 277 vehicles transporting essential supplies were escorted along NH-2, while 209 vehicles passed through NH-37 under strict security measures. Security personnel have been deployed at all vulnerable locations, and security convoys are being provided along sensitive stretches to facilitate the safe and unhindered passage of vehicles.
To strengthen security further, 110 Nakas (checkpoints) have been set up across different districts in both the hill and valley areas. However, no detentions were reported in connection with violations across the state.
In a related development, sources reported that a joint team of Central Forces and Manipur Police dismantled several illegal bunkers allegedly set up by Kuki militants in Churachandpur’s Kawtlian area. The operation took place in response to escalating tensions in the region. Additionally, flags and barricades obstructing roads were removed to restore normal movement in the affected areas.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, ensuring stability and security in the state.
