Security measures intensifies ahead of PM visits, 4 UGs arrested

Security forces intensified its operation ahead of the Prime Minister visit in Manipur and arrested four active members of proscribed militant groups and seized weapons, mobile phones, SIM cards and other items during a series of intelligence-based search operations carried out over the past 24 hours. Officials reported that the overall law-and-order situation in the state remained normal despite the operations.
According to a statement from the Manipur Police Control Room, combing operations and cordon-and-search drives were conducted in vulnerable areas to curb extortion and criminal activities linked to underground outfits.
Among those arrested was Sanatomba Singh alias Ibungo (41) of PREPAK, apprehended from Singjamei in Imphal West, with a 9mm pistol, magazine and a mobile phone with SIM card recovered from his possession. In the same district, Khundrakpam Malangba Singh alias Tikentij (50) of RPF/PLA was also detained.
In Bishnupur district, security personnel arrested Oinam Naobi Meitei alias Bikendra (29) of UNLF (Koireng) and seized a mobile phone and SIM card. A day earlier, on September 9, forces arrested Ningthoujam Sunil Singh alias Salai (28) of KCP (Taibanggnapa) at Wangkei Andro parking area in Imphal East, recovering a mobile phone and wallet.
Police further reported continuing action against motor vehicle violations, with tinted films removed from 10 vehicles on September 9. Across the state, 119 checkpoints were set up in hill and valley districts, though no detentions were made at these posts.
Authorities urged the public to avoid spreading or believing rumours, fake videos or unverified audio clips on social media, warning that false information regarding arms and militant movements could attract legal consequences. Citizens were also appealed to return looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the nearest police station or security force camp without delay.
