Security measure tighten ahead of Dalai Lama Visit to the state on Oct. 18

Imphal: Security measures have been beefed up in the state ahead of the Tebetan spiritual head Dalai Lama visit to the state of Manipur. The Tibetan Spiritual leader who has been in exile is expected to visit the state on October 18, 2017.
The visit of the Tibetan spiritual leader to the North Eastern region of Inida is being strictly monitored by the Chinese counterpart. He was invited by the speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Yumnam Khemchand after consultation with the Chief Minister of Manipur.
Since the last couple of days, security measures have been beefed up in Imphal West and Imphal East area. Series of search operation has been conducted at various places of Imphal West and Imphal East district.
Today too, a team of Imphal East district police conducted search operation at Palace Compound and Thombuthing road. 360 people including 120 women were verified during the search operation conducted from 5 am today till 6.30 am. 5 women and 5 men which do not possessed valid documents for identification were picked up for further verification.
