Second round of talk between JCILP and Govt. committee held

Second round of talk between the government instituted committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) headed by its convenor Ibotombi Khuman was held today at Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat at Chingmeirong.A total of 16 members from the JCILPS attended the meeting today while a total of 12 members comprising of Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, MLA, RK Anand, MLA Ng Bijoy and other representatives of the amongst other were present in the second round talk.According to source, today’s meeting deliberated on the views of the various experts including members of the All Manipur Bar Association and Professors of the Manipur University, regarding the framing of legislation for protecting the indigenous people of the state. The government constituted committee are of the view for framing of a new legislation which will be not ultra virus to the constitution of India.Members of the JCILPS did not give any opinion regarding the implementation of the Inner Line Permit System during today’s meeting, the source added. The JCILPS members are likely to give their comment after the government constituted committee finalised their stand regarding the implementation of the legislation.Earlier, the convenor of the JCILPS had stated that the first meeting was fruitful as they are looking forward for framing of the legislation.MLA RK Anand who is also the convenor of the All Political Party Forum on Inner Line Permit System had many a time stated that the framing of the legislation for checking or controlling of the migrants should not hurt the sentiments of other community. But rather it should be to fulfil the needs of our society.
