SEACO extends Sajibu Cheiraoba wishes

Greeting the people of the state on the occasion of Sajibu Cheiraoba , South East Asia Cultural Organisation (SEACO) today wishes to bring an equal, peaceful, stable, prosperity, development and love among each other.
A press statement released today by Koijam Brojen, president of SEACO said the festival is known as Sajibu Cheiraoba as it is celebrated on the first day of Sajibu Month of Meitei Calendar. On this day, every households of the state offer newly harvested fruits, flowers and vegetables to Lainingthou Sanamahi and pray for a happy and prosperous life. Relatives, family members and neighbours exchange cuisines prepared in their respective kitchens. After having food there is a tradition to climb nearby hillock.
The statement also said that our culture and tradition has changed a lot after August 28th, 1709 during the reign of King Pamheiba. It also appealed to stop the habit of laughing at each other when any organization tried to revive our ancient festivals. It suggested not to observed Cheiraoba on Charak Puja.
