The All Manipur Saw Mill Owners Welfare Association ,Manipur has urged the Principal Chief Conservator , Government of Manipur to allow them purchase the seized timber logs from the Forest department.
It may be mentioned that the Forest department authority had seized 19 loaded trucks of block size/fanta having good quality on March 19,2020 for trying to illegally transport outside the state of Manipur. The seized timber are now at the campus of Central Forest Division , Mantripukhri , Imphal, and source with the Imphal Times said that the department is in the process for auctioning it.
In a memorandum submitted to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest the association urged to publicize the quantity and quantum of cubic metres of the timber log seized and presently in the custody of the Forest department.
“Our Association may have the chance of share / purchase the same and in this regard our association would like to the PCCF, Manipur kindly to notify the quality and quantum of cubic meters of the timber seized by forest Department, so as to provide the seized timber the approved saw mills in the MIEs on payment of necessary royalty and other taxes under GST ,etc., which is ready to be paid from the owners of the approved saw Mills units in the MIEs”, a memorandum submitted said.
