Imphal, July 30:
General Secretary of Salai Apunba Nupi Lamjing Lup (SANULAL), Akoijam Shanti Devi, has called on both the Indian and Manipur governments to find a resolution to the ongoing conflict in the state. In a statement to the media, Shanti Devi highlighted the active involvement of SANULAL’s members in closely monitoring the situation and seeking effective solutions.
Shanti Devi urged the members of the Manipur Assembly to pass a resolution addressing the conflict during the upcoming Budget session, which is scheduled to run from July 31 to August 12. She stressed the importance of the Manipur Assembly Speaker forwarding this resolution to the Indian government for prompt action.
Criticizing the influence of Delhi on Manipur’s governance, Shanti Devi stated that it has led to widespread public dissatisfaction. She emphasized that the government must take decisive action to end the prolonged conflict and restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
“The people of Manipur are disillusioned with the heavy-handed approach from Delhi, which has only exacerbated the situation,” Shanti Devi remarked. “It is imperative that the Manipur government acts swiftly to pass this resolution and convey the urgency of the situation to the Indian government. The prolonged conflict has taken a severe toll on the lives of our people, and immediate steps must be taken to address their grievances and ensure a peaceful resolution.”
