Imphal, April 08:

The Joint Action Committee for SALAI Depositors, Manipur has urged the government of Manipur to intervene on humanitarian grounds on the issue of banning the bank accounts of the SMART Society of the SALAI Holdings Pvt. Ltd by the Manipur Government to the activities and bank accounts of the SMART Society of the SALAI Holdings Pvt. Ltd. for the last one and half years.
The committee submitted Memorandum to the Chief Minister of Manipur for his initiative to redress their grievance to secure the deposited funds from the SALAI Management.
The committee regrets the inaction of the Chief Minister to date which only aggravated their misery since its inability to get appropriate repayment of the investments/deposited money had deepened their sufferings for the last few years.
In the connection, the committee urged intervention from the government and advice the Chief Minister to resolve the issue, by either allowing the SALAI Holdings Pvt. Ltd. to repay their deposits or failing which the Government may kindly be advised to take over the movable and immovable assets including bank accounts of the said company so that the Government may mitigate emotional, economic and human sufferings of citizens.
