SAIRAM observes National Farmers Day, launches Agri-Clinic

The Department of Entomology and NSS Unit of SAIRAM, Imphal, observed National Farmers Day 2025 under the theme “Empowering Women Farmers for a Prosperous Nation” and launched an Agri-Clinic Cell to support the local farming community, day before yesterday.
The programme was marked by the inauguration of the Agri-Clinic Cell and the release of technical farm bulletins aimed at providing scientific guidance to farmers. Dr H S Shekhar Sharma, Director of SAIRAM, attended the event as Chief Guest, while Shri N Arunkumar Singh, Assistant Professor, participated as Guest of Honour.
In his address, Dr H S Shekhar Sharma encouraged farmers to adopt scientific agricultural practices and to approach SAIRAM for solutions to crop-related issues through the newly launched Agri-Clinic. Welcoming the gathering, Dr Jenita Thokchom, Head of the Department of Entomology, highlighted the significant role played by women farmers in strengthening the agricultural sector.
Technical and motivational addresses were also delivered by Dr N Olivia Devi, Assistant Professor; Dr W Herojit Singh, Head of the Department of Soil Science; and Dr L Brojendra Singh of SAIRAM.
A key highlight of the programme was the inauguration of the Agri-Clinic Cell by the Chief Guest. The clinic aims to provide real-time diagnosis and scientific solutions to crop problems faced by farmers.
