Run for NRC awareness held in Konthoujam

A 7-km awareness run highlighting the need for updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and conducting a proper Census was held today at Konthoujam Assembly Constituency.
The event, organised under the initiative of Dr. Yaikhomba Taorem, Managing Director of Angel Children Hospital, was conducted under the theme “Run for Change, Run for Unity.” The run commenced from Konthoujam Bazar and saw participation from a large number of youths, women, and elderly persons across various categories.
Speaking on the sidelines, Dr. Yaikhomba Taorem stated that proper implementation of the NRC in Manipur was essential to identify genuine citizens and prevent future challenges. He observed that any delay or improper process could lead to complications, including the possibility of ineligible individuals being included.
He also called for conducting an accurate Census alongside the NRC update and urged people from all sections to unite in efforts aimed at safeguarding indigenous interests and ensuring long-term stability.
Winners in different categories were awarded cash prizes, while consolation prizes were also distributed to participants.
