RSS Chief calls for immediate resolution of Manipur conflict Post-Election

IT News
Imphal, June 11:

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat emphasized the urgency of moving beyond election rhetoric to address the ongoing conflict in Manipur. Speaking at a Sangh event in Nagpur on Monday, Bhagwat underscored the necessity of prioritizing peace in Manipur, which has been plagued by violence for over a year.
“It’s been a year since Manipur has been waiting for peace. The state remained peaceful for the last 10 years, but suddenly, gun culture has increased again. It is important to resolve the conflict as a priority,” Bhagwat stated.
He highlighted that the situation in Manipur demands immediate attention, suggesting that election discussions should take a back seat to focus on pressing national issues.
The ethnic violence in Manipur, which erupted in May last year, involved clashes between the Imphal valley-based Meiteis and the hill-based Kukis, resulting in over 200 deaths and thousands displaced.
Regarding the election results, Bhagwat noted that with a government now in place, it is unnecessary to dwell on the specifics of the election process. He stressed the importance of consensus between the government and the Opposition to effectively serve the public.
“Election is a process of building consensus. Parliament has two sides so that both aspects of any question can be presented,” the RSS chief said. He also commented on the global societal changes impacting democratic systems.
Bhagwat expressed concern over the negative campaign tactics used during elections, including personal attacks and the spread of misinformation. He lamented that even the RSS was not spared from such tactics.
“The way in which people abuse each other, misuse technology, and spread fake news during election campaigns is not right,” Bhagwat said. “We will have to get rid of the election frenzy and think about the issues faced by the country.”
The RSS chief’s comments reflect a call for unity and focus on resolving critical issues like the Manipur conflict, emphasizing that political leaders must rise above divisive rhetoric for the greater good of the nation.
