Imphal, Mar 22:

Manipur’s Rajya MP Maharaj Leishemba Sanajaoba today drew the attention of the parliament house for the establishment of UPSC main exam center in the state of Manipur.
Moving the matter as a special mention, MP Leishemba Sanajaoba drew the attention of the parliament saying that every year many students appeared in the UPSC Prelim exam. However, as there is no main exam center in the state those students who had cleared the prelim exam have to travel to states like Aizawl, Shillong, and Guwahati. As a result of this many students particularly those students who are living below the poverty line have been facing certain inconveniences either in traveling as well as accommodation problems.
MP Leishemba Sanajaoba further said that in the last 5 years Mizoram and Meghalaya could not produce any qualified candidate in the UPSC conducted examination. However, in the state of Manipur during these five years, many UPSC cleared candidates have been produced.
In 2020, 30 candidates from the state of Manipur cleared the Prelim examination. As for the Mizoram and Meghalaya, only one each cleared the prelim exam. In the interest of the Manipuri student, the government needs to open the main exam center in the state of Manipur to sort out the difficulties being face by the aspirant students from the state, Leishemba Sanajaoba drew the attention of the house.
