Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, announced the allocation of Rs 777.61 crore for the widening and upgrading of the Shangshak-Tengnoupal Road (Package-3) on National Highway-102A. He shared the update on the social media platform X, stating, “In Manipur, we have sanctioned a budget of Rs 777.61 crore for the widening and improvement of the Shangshak-Tengnoupal Road (Package-3) section of National Highway-102A.”
The project, which forms part of the Annual Plan for 2024-25, will upgrade the 48-kilometre stretch into a two-lane road. This road connects the key districts of Ukhrul and Kamjong, starting at Khonglo and ending at Kasom-Khullen.
The aim of the upgrade is to improve road capacity, reduce vehicle operating costs, and provide better services for commuters. Beyond easing travel between these districts, the enhanced infrastructure is expected to drive economic growth, promote tourism, and support local businesses.
This project is anticipated to create job opportunities and contribute to Manipur’s socio-economic development. The widening of this road will not only improve connectivity but also help in fostering social and economic growth in the region.
