While extending ‘revolutionary salute to the martyrs’ of Kodompokpi battle, banned armed group Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) and its army wing People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has appealed all ethnic groups to take part in its Athoubasing gi Ningsing Numit (Martyrs’ Day) memorial service on April 13.
A total number of 9 (nine) RPF/PLA cadres were killed during the infamous gun battle between security forces and the outfit at Kodompokpi on April 13, 1982, according to a release by Roben Khuman, Secretary Publicity, Revolutionary People’s Front.
The battle of Kodompokpi is the epitome of RPF/PLA’s velour and sacrifice made by its cadres. The day would remain inscribed in golden pages of liberation history. Paying homage to the departed souls, who laid down their lives in the confrontation RPF has been observing April 13 as Martyrs’ Day, he said, and appealed all to participate at the observance and floral tribute to the martyrs at Chairao Chingkhong.
While sharing sorrows of the aggrieved family members, Roben Khuman extends heartfelt gratitude to all and also appealed not to organize or indulge in any entertainment programs except for performing religious and cultural activities.
