Imphal, Mar 3:
The Executive Council of the Rongmei Naga People’s Organization (RNPO) has officially announced the impeachment of Pouh Sangamlung Kamei, also known as Sebastian Sangamlung, from the position of President of the organization.
A statement signed by key RNPO officials, including Vice President Chaningai Gonmei, General Secretary Thuingamlung Phaomei, Finance Secretary Gaila Pamei, Assistant General Secretary Lungthuan Gangmei, and Information & Publicity Secretary Pouhoi Gonmei, cited grave concerns over actions that allegedly tarnished the reputation of the organization.
According to the statement, Sebastian Sangamlung was accused of violating the RNPO Constitution, neglecting his duties, engaging in corruption, misappropriating organizational funds, and abusing his power for personal gain. The Executive Council asserted that he acted solely in his own interest without the knowledge or consent of the council.
In light of these allegations, the Executive Council determined that his removal from office was both necessary and justified. The statement also clarified that RNPO would not shield or take responsibility for his actions and that he would be held accountable under the law.
The impeached President has been instructed to return all RNPO-related materials to the Liaison Office in Namdunlung, Imphal, within five days.
The RNPO appealed to the public for their continued trust and support, reaffirming its commitment to serving the Rongmei community across Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland with unity and dedication.
