The Teachers’ and Medical Officers’ Association (TAMOA) at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, has announced the suspension of all services at the institute, including OPD, emergency, routine OT, and PME, following a violent assault on a senior consultant.
In a resolution passed on September 21, 2025, TAMOA strongly condemned the assault and false allegations circulating on social media, while extending sympathies to those affected by the incidents. The association demanded immediate action to ensure a safe working environment for healthcare providers.
The resolutions include lodging a First Information Report (FIR) against the culprits, issuance of a formal condemnation statement by RIMS authorities, and conducting an inquiry into security lapses at the institute. TAMOA stated that normal duty would resume only when the working environment becomes safe and conducive.
The association has also called for formal clarification from RIMS authorities regarding the false allegations being circulated on social media and emphasized the assurance of safety for all staff within the hospital complex.
Copies of the resolution have been circulated to key bodies including the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Manipur State Branch, RIMS Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA), Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA), RIMSSU, NTEWA, and TNAI RIMS Branch.
