Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal reopened the Medical Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU) ward today at Department of Medicine RIMS, Imphal. The reopening program was graced by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director RIMS, Imphal in the presence of Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Director RIMS, Imphal stated that with the increment of ICU beds to 34 numbers, we are able to enhance medical facilities, especially to critical care. The ICU facilities will be available at very low cost @ Rs. 300/- to Rs. 400/- so that poor patient can be afforded. It also further even aims to reduce at Rs. 50/- only with prior permission from the Ministry. RIMS also has the intention to provide maximum free-of-cost medicines, free investigation with the best modern facilities, and ready to procure the latest equipment and medicines to serve the people. As causality is the first contact with patients, doctors will be advised to prescribe generic medicine name instead of commercial so that RIMS can provide the drug to needy people coming for causality.
Further, the Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, Imphal states that having installed 0f 34 ICU beds is commendable. There were only 12 nos. of ICU beds 2 years back. It is better for the poor patients who are unable to afford at private hospitals can be benefitted at RIMS Hospital, Imphal.
Faculty members who took an active part and initiated running 22-bed ICU first and again took responsibility for reopening the ITU ward.
The program was attended by all HODs, faculties, staff, and Nursing Officials of RIMS, Imphal.
