RIMS organizes Tree Plantation drive under Swachhta Action Plan

As part of the Swachhta Action Plan (SAP), the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, organized a Tree Plantation Drive today at the College of Nursing, RIMS, Imphal (Second Campus), in coordination ith the Atal Smriti Varsh 2025 Committee, BJP Manipur Pradesh. The initiative aimed to contribute to the development of Atal Van and promote environmental sustainability.
The tree plantation programme was graced by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal, in the presence of Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, President, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Manipur Pradesh; Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal; R. K. Mecolt Singh, Deputy Director (Admn.); Prof. L. Rajesh Singh, Dean (Academics), RIMS, Imphal; and K. Saratkumar Singh, General Secretary and Convenor, Atal Smriti Varsh 2025 Committee, BJP Manipur Pradesh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director of RIMS stated that for the past two decades the institute has been striving to maintain a plastic-free campus and develop green zones. In response to climate change and the increasing incidence of floods, RIMS continues to promote tree plantation, plastic-free practices, and public awareness. Marking the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who inaugurated the Jubilee Hall, the institute reaffirmed its commitment to his vision of a green and sustainable environment.
Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi stated that the year-long centenary celebrations of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee have concluded and that the programme was organized under the Prime Minister’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative. She highlighted the invaluable contributions of Vajpayee, noted that the tree plantation was undertaken as a tribute to him, and urged everyone to collectively protect the environment.
The event was participated by officials, faculty members, members of BJP Manipur Pradesh, staff, students, and personnel from CRED and MSS.
