RIMS organises One-Day Nurses’ training on ‘First Responder in Patient Care’

The Department of Nursing, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital, Imphal, today organised a one-day nurses’ training programme on the theme “First Responder in Patient Care” at the Neuro-Intensive Care Unit of RIMS Hospital, aimed at strengthening clinical competence and professional preparedness among nursing personnel.
The programme was attended by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, as Chief Guest, while Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, presided over the function. Prof. L. Rajesh Singh, Dean (Academics), and Smt. N. Ibemhal, Chief Nursing Officer, RIMS, Imphal, were present as Guests of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma appreciated the initiative to conduct focused training for nurses, describing them as the primary first responders in patient care. He stated that nursing is not merely a profession but a commitment that demands competence, compassion and continuous learning. Referring to advanced training received at RML Hospital, he said efforts are being made to disseminate updated knowledge and skills among nursing staff at RIMS. He encouraged regular in-house training programmes and greater use of internal expertise to maintain high standards of patient care.
The training programme featured expert lectures on professional ethics, emergency management and effective communication skills, highlighting the critical role of nurses in responding promptly and efficiently during medical emergencies. A panel discussion on report writing, conducted by senior nursing officials of RIMS Hospital, provided practical guidance and shared best practices with participants.
At the end of the programme, certificates of recognition were distributed to participants and resource persons in appreciation of their contributions and active involvement.
