RIMS lab gets NABL accreditation

Imphal, June 15: The HIV laboratory (NRL & ICTC) at the department of microbiology of RIMS has been granted NABL accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories in the field of medical testing. According to a press release issued by the media advisor of the institute, the HIV laboratory is one of 12 national reference laboratories and RIMS became the only government institute to be granted such accreditation. On the other hand NABL is a third party organization which checks the quality of testing, competence of staff, proper infrastructure etc for overall correctness of the test reports for the benefit of the patients as well as the doctors.
