Security forces recovered a single-barrel rifle, nine live rounds of ammunition and two wireless handsets during a joint cordon-and-search operation at Irang (Taobam) village in Noney district early Monday morning.
The operation was conducted around 5 am by personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force, Commando Battalion for Resolute Action, Rapid Action Force and Khongsang Police Station. Around 60 houses were searched and 120 persons were verified during the operation, according to a report submitted to the Khongsang police station.
The seized items included one single-barrel rifle, nine live rounds, two Baofeng wireless handsets and a charger. The items were reportedly found concealed at the operation site and were suspected to have been hidden by an unidentified insurgent group.
The seized materials were handed over to Khongsang police for further necessary action.
