Imphal, Aug 31:

A ten-member team of Rhythms of Manipur returned home yesterday after their successful week-long tour in Vietnam, participating in the Festival of India, Namaste Vietnam. The festival was held in Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces where the troupe enchanted the Vietnamese audience with their fusion music performance.
The festival, organized by the Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, was inaugurated by Dr. Madam Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India. The event began on August 25 at the Rex Hotel with Rhythms of Manipur performing on the inaugural day. Their repertoire comprised the nationally acclaimed composition “Dancing Drummers” and the state song “Sanaleibak Manipur.”
The diplomatic corps of various countries represented in Ho Chi Minh City, senior Vietnamese officials, and members of the Indian community were among those who were impressed with the fine performances by the Manipuri artists. The other performances included Rhythms of Manipur, Government Dance College, Imphal, Odissi dance sponsored by ICCR, Bollywood group from Mumbai, and fashion shows from Vietnam.
Besides the inaugural day performance, Rhythms of Manipur also perform at Education Business, and Investment Seminar sessions held at Rex Hotel on August 26. Indian Education Fair/ Conclave was also presented in the festival where Indian education institutes such as Symbiosis, Guru Kashi University, and Amity University were represented discussing opportunities for collaboration with their Vietnamese counterparts.
On the 27th, the troupe also performed at the India-Vietnam Cultural Night at Tra Vinh University, Tra Vinh province. The program presented both the Rhythms of Manipur and students of the university with traditional dance numbers. The Manipuri troupe performed their award-winning “Dancing Drummers,” the state song, and patriotic songs in the program well received by the audience consisting mostly of students and teachers of the institute.
Significantly, since 2013, Rhythms of Manipur has continued international performances held in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Laos, Bangkok, Surin, and Port of Spain in connection with certain festivals or events.
