Residents of Meitei Langol area protest deployment of Central forces

Residents of Meitei Langol area in Imphal West district today protested the deployment of central forces in the area and demanded immediate withdrawal of all central forces deployed in the area.
“Meitei Langol area which falls under the Imphal West district has been a disturbed area since the armed Kuki militants started attacking the Meitei houses on the 3rd of May. Since then the government has deployed Border Security Forces. However, following reports about replacing the BSF with a team of CRPF the Langol residents staged a protest.
During the protest shops and all business establishments were shut and all vehicular movements were halted disrupting normalcy in the area.
A local Meira Paibi leader, Akham Ongbi Tilotama Leima while talking to reporters urged the government to remove all central forces deployed in the area and said that the locals would oppose all measures for deployment of any central forces including the CRPF.
