Renown film critic RK Bidur passes away; MSFDS among others mourn

Renown Film critics Rajkumar Bidur, awardee of Swarna Kamal, the National Award for Best Film Critic, succumbed to post Covid complication on Wednesday at chest ICU, JNIMS. He was 80 years of age and survived by his wife. One of the best film critic in India, RK Bidur was the Founder-President of the Manipur Film Journalist/Critics Association (MFJCA).
Film fraternity of the state media persons, artists, ministers and MLAs among others condole the demise of the film activist/critic.
Manipur State Film Development Society, MSFDS in its condolence message term the demise of the eminent film personality as irreplaceable and deeply mourns the lost of R.K. Bidur. The Society described R.K. Bidur as an encyclopedia of Manipuri cinema, whose passing is a huge loss for Manipuri Cinema.
Bidur’s active participation in film society movement, his brilliance in critiquing the intricacies of cinematic art and his personal knowledge of the journey of Manipuri cinema made him a staunch promoter of regional cinema especially the Manipuri film movement.
In his fond memory and as a mark of respect for his invaluable contribution to Manipuri cinema, a candlelight memorial was held the Manipuri Cinema Memorial erected at MSFDS complex, Palace Gate by the film community of the state that has altogether lost six (6) film personalities during the pandemic so far.
