Imphal, Dec 2:

The relay hunger strike organized by Uripok Apunba Lup and Uripok Nupi Apunba has entered its 17th day, as state authorities have yet to apprehend anyone involved in the brutal killing of three women and three minors, including an eight-month-old infant, in Jiribam’s Jakurador village.
The organizations expressed their disappointment and outrage, stating that the continued inaction of both the Indian and Manipur governments demonstrates indifference to the sacrifices of the people. They declared that the people of Uripok are prepared to stand firm if the governments expect them to endure further suffering.
In a statement, the organizations highlighted their resolve, saying, “The inability of the state to act on such atrocities has pushed us to take this extreme step. The people of Uripok are determined to safeguard the dignity of Manipur’s citizens, even if it means making sacrifices.”
The relay hunger strike is being conducted in phases across multiple locations. From 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the strike takes place at Sorbon Thingel CDS Club Meira, followed by Langol Punshi Leikai from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The night shift, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., is being carried out in Langol Zone 4, Wangdei Leikai, LPC, Thongak Lairembi, and Masai Kon under the coordination of Semgat Nupi Lup.
Publicity Secretary of Uripok Apunba Lup, Chingthang Nambam, called on the authorities to act swiftly and decisively, warning that the failure to deliver justice could escalate the unrest and deepen the people’s mistrust.
The hunger strike has garnered attention from the local population, who continue to rally behind the demand for justice and accountability for the heinous crime.
