Rebel body CorCom calls general strike on August 15 boycotting India’s Independence Day

Joint body of various rebel group operating in the region Co-ordinating Committee (CorCom) has called total shut down from 1 am of August 15 till 6.30 pm of the day boycotting the Independence Day of India. The rebel group has been boycotting the India’s Independence day every year even as the state government celebrate it under tight security forces,
During the total shut down essential service like medical, electricity, water supply , fire service, press and other religious related activities has been relax as per the statement.
“When India celebrate its Independent day we have been reminded that we were also once an independent nation”, the statement said while adding that there is not even a single hairpiece of freedom in India’s Independence. As Manipur’s Independence is not included in the India’s Independence, the region is still lack far behind from other in the field of development, the statement said and added that after India occupied Manipur on October 15 , 1949, Manipur has been living as a colony of India for 71 years. That is why Manipuri have no reason to be happy about the India’s Independence Day.
Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speechof July 3 , 2020, at which he stated that the age of expansion is overm the CorCom statement said that such a statement is delivered on the perception that nobody whill know how the WESEA region have been occupied by then till today. The statement term the series of his speech as an attempt to conceal the expantionism and human rights violations in the region. CorCom said that India is marching ahead in the top when it comes to expansionism of land.
The CorCom reminded how India was created after British left and also reminded the words of Indian Iron Man Sardar Patel at which he told “Don’t you have a brigadier in Shillong” at the time when the then King of Manipur refused to signed the merger agreement.
