Ratankumar calls for stronger security to end Manipur’s prolonged crisis

Former Minister Dr Khumujam Ratankumar has expressed concern over the failure to bring an end to the violence that has continued in Manipur for nearly four years, questioning the measures taken by the government to restore lasting peace and normalcy in the state.

He made the observation while attending the third blood donation camp organised jointly by the Mayai Lambi Chapter of the Mayang Imphal Block Youth Congress Committee’s Helping Hands for People and Shija Hospital.

Speaking at the programme, Ratankumar said the prolonged crisis had continued to claim lives and create insecurity, expressing concern over attacks on people without warning. He described such incidents as deeply distressing and questioned why violence continued despite the deployment of additional Central security forces.

He stressed the need for effective measures to end the unrest and restore public confidence, urging the authorities to examine why such incidents continued to occur despite the presence of security personnel.

The former minister also highlighted the importance of humanitarian initiatives during the ongoing crisis, commending the organisers and participants for coming forward to donate blood and help save lives.

Around 50 people donated blood at the camp, while members of the local public from surrounding areas also participated in the programme.

The blood donation camp reflected the spirit of community service and solidarity at a time when Manipur continues to face prolonged uncertainty and security challenges.
