Raj Medicity Nursing Institute, North A.O.C., Imphal, successfully organised the Lamp Lighting and Oath-Taking Ceremony for the B.Sc. Nursing 1st Batch (Academic Session 2025–2026) on Saturday at the 8th Floor Multipurpose Hall of Raj Medicity. The ceremony marked the formal induction of students into the nursing profession and was attended by parents, faculty members, students, and distinguished guests.
The event commenced with the arrival of dignitaries, followed by an opening song and ceremonial proceedings. Dr N. Bino Singh, Director, Family Welfare Services, Government of Manipur, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Dr N. Surbala Devi, Principal, College of Nursing, Medical Directorate, Government of Manipur, and Prof Thoudam Nandarani Devi, Vice President (North East Region), Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI), attended as Guests of Honour. The programme was presided over by Haobijam Rajen Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, Raj Medicity & Raj Medicity Nursing Institute.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the Ritual Lighting of the Nightingale Lamp, followed by the students of the 10th semester lighting their lamps and taking the Nursing Oath, symbolising their commitment to service, compassion, and professional ethics.
In his Presidential Address, Haobijam Rajen Singh emphasised the pivotal role of faculty members in shaping competent nursing professionals, calling teachers the backbone of excellence in nursing education. He assured students of job placement opportunities at Raj Medicity, underscoring the institution’s commitment to supporting graduates in their careers. He also stressed the importance of time management, discipline, and dedication, reminding students that nursing is a profession that demands sacrifice and compassion.
The Chief Guest and Guests of Honour motivated the students to pursue their profession with integrity, empathy, and a commitment to lifelong learning. They highlighted the critical role nurses play in strengthening the healthcare delivery system and encouraged students to uphold the highest standards of professionalism throughout their careers.
The ceremony concluded with congratulations and best wishes extended to the newly inducted nursing students.
