PWD office shuts down, state witness various forms of protest demonstration

Protestors today morning locked the PWD office located at Khuyathong as part of the complete shutdown of government offices and departments in and around the Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency.
They also prevented the employees of the department to enter inside the office. The protestors also stormed at KV, Lamphel and seized questions papers of class XI. On the other hand, the same team also shut down JN Dance Akademi.
Speaking to media person, one of the protestor said that the office has been shut down as part of the ongoing complete shutdown movement of government office, departments, and institutions that had been announced earlier by Thangmeiband United Club, Meira Paibi and local bodies from July 15 to August 15 in support of the ongoing Inner Liner Permit System movement.
Some group of the team also closed the 24 Manipur Battalion NCC office situated at DM College campus.
While, M Lokendro, Chief Engineer, PWD said that the office was opened as employees are preparing a detail report regarding the recent flood. The department has to send the report to Centre before August 15.
The Chief Engineer also appealed not to destroy public properties during the ongoing agitation as the state is facing lack of fund for development works.
Meanwhile, Khurai Mini water tankers union and locals of the area took off a motor rally from today Khurai Salan Thong and proceeded around the city. Around 100 water tanker drivers and locals marched the rally. They also raised various slogans like ‘Implement ILP in Manipur’; ‘Punish killer of Robinhood’ etc.
L Sotinkumar, CPI State Secretary Member along with residents Khurai area staged a sit-in-protest at Lai Khulembi, Khurai today morning.
Students of RUDA Academy, Thoubal took out a rally around Thoubal Wangma Taba area. And, students of Manipur University’s Chemistry department and KM Blooming Academy visited Robinhood’s residence and offered financial assistances to his parents.
