Bishnupur, Feb 12:
Amid the ongoing political uncertainty in the state, protests have intensified as people voice their concerns over the situation. Protesters expressed strong resentment, stating that this is not the right time for political instability in Manipur. They accused Chief Minister N. Biren Singh of being pressured by the Kuki community while asserting that the political crisis in the state is being dictated by Kuki narco-terrorists. Demonstrators further warned that the Chief Minister should not step down, emphasizing that village defenders (Khungangpa) are playing a crucial role in safeguarding Manipur.
The protest gained momentum in various parts of Kumbi Assembly Constituency, with people taking to the streets in different localities. Women protesters, including Meira Paibis, staged demonstrations at Terakhong Makha Leikai, Wangoo Sabal, and Wangoo Naodakhong Makha Leikai playground. During the protest, agitators raised slogans condemning attempts to create political instability and warned against any external pressure influencing the leadership of the state.
Expressing their firm stance, the protesters made it clear that they would not remain silent if the situation further deteriorates. They urged the Chief Minister to stand firm and continue his leadership, emphasizing that now is the time to protect the state rather than step down. The demonstrators also resolved to strengthen their movement, asserting that they will not back down in their fight to safeguard Manipur.
