Protests over Tronglaobi killings continue across valley districts

Protests demanding justice for the victims of the Tronglaobi killings continued across several valley districts today under the initiative of prominent civil society organisations, including the All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO), All Manipur Women Voluntary Organisation (AMAWOVA), Committee on Human Rights (COHR), Manipur Students’ Federation (MSF), and Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM).
Demonstrations were reported from multiple localities, with protesters reiterating demands for justice, accountability, and swift action against those responsible for the incident that has triggered widespread public outrage across the state.
As part of the ongoing agitation, a protest was also staged at Patsoi Part-II Makha Leikai in Imphal West district, jointly organised by Pamyal Club and the Women Development Association. Residents, including women and youth, took part in the demonstration, holding placards and raising slogans calling for justice for the victims.
Participants expressed concern over the delay in delivering justice and urged the authorities to take decisive steps to ensure that those involved in the killings are identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law. Speakers at the protest stressed the need for transparency in the investigation process and called for measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
The coordinated protests across valley districts reflect sustained public anger and growing pressure on the authorities to respond effectively to the Tronglaobi incident. Civil society organisations indicated that the agitation would continue until concrete steps are taken to address their demands and ensure justice for the victims. Source said that the people of Lilong to SIngjamei area is ikely to hold protest rally at evening.
