Protests across the state highlights 9 months of Kuki attacks on Manipur and India: PAPPM

IT News
Imphal, Feb 15:

In response to the call from the People’s Alliance of Peace and Progress, Manipur (PAPPM) for a mass human demonstration protest against the actions of Kuki militants in Manipur and India, thousands of individuals from various valley areas mobilized to participate in the protest.
Throughout different parts of Imphal and beyond, the streets echoed with the voices of the masses as they passionately voiced their concerns. The air reverberated with slogans such as “Save Manipur, Save India”, “Down Down Kuki Narco Terrorists”, “Remove Double Standard Assam Rifles”, “We Want Peace”, “Abrogate SoO with Assam Rifles”, and “Deport Illegal Kuki Migrants”, reflecting the diverse grievances and demands of the protestors.
At Khwairamband Ima Keithel, a significant gathering of women, numbering in the thousands, congregated amidst the bustling lanes of Ima Keithel No. 1 and Ima Keithel No. 3, as well as along the main roads, raising their voices in unison to echo the powerful slogans mentioned earlier.
Mayanglambam Bobby, President of the People’s Alliance of Peace and Progress, Manipur, emphasized that the widespread participation in the mass protest across the state served as a potent demonstration to shed light on the actions of the Kuki communities over the past nine months.
“We were aiming to highlight their attempts to manipulate the core issue at hand,” Mayanglambam Bobby expressed. “Their endeavors to distort Manipur’s history and fabricate narratives are evident. They seek to manipulate not only history but also culture and boundaries.”
Expanding on his allegations, Bobby asserted that the Kuki community is actively pursuing the agenda of carving out a separate land for themselves from within the boundaries of India.
Expanding on his assertion, Bobby elucidated, “Their attempts to appropriate land from Manipur are tantamount to encroaching upon Indian territory, with the aim of establishing a separate entity they refer to as ‘Kukiland.’ By seeking to seize land that rightfully belongs to Manipur and, by extension, India, they are not only threatening the territorial integrity of the nation but also undermining the sovereignty of Manipur.”
The strife between the Meitei and Kuki communities has plunged Manipur into nine months of relentless violence, with no end in sight. Civil society organizations persist in their protests, condemning the government’s inability to safeguard the populace. Demonstrations targeting both the Kuki communities and the Assam Rifles persist, underscoring the ongoing unrest and discontent within Manipur.
