Imphal, Aug 25: Large number of students of the Wangoo Higher Secondary School and volunteers of the Socialist Students Union Manipur (SSUM) today confronted with a strong team of police at Keishampat junction today afternoon. The students were marching a protest rally towards the Education Minister’s office after staging a sit-in-protest demonstration against the non fulfillment of demands by the Education Department at Keishampat Leimajam Community Hall. Later, four representatives of the students were allowed to meet the Education Minister at his office chamber. During the meeting the Education Minister assured to look after the demand put up by the students. The students were also assured of a joint meeting of Head Master of Wangoo Hr. Sc. School, ZEO Bishnupur and Director of Education(s). It may be mentioned that Wangoo Higher Secondary School previously Wangoo High School was upgraded this year to Higher Secondary status. However, no required infrastructures as well as teachers were sent after the up-gradation. According to students the school at present has only 10 teachers including two teachers of higher secondary level.
