Protest staged against assault by Parliamentary Secretary K. Meghachandra

Residents of Charangpat staged at sit in protest at Charangpat Mayai Leikai Waiting Shed against the alleged assault of an innocent by the MLA of Wangkhem Assembly Constituency K. Meghachandra, who is also the Parliamentary Secretary of Minor Irrigation and IPR.
The person who was allegedly beaten by MLA K. Meghachandra has been identified as one Thiyam Deva Singh (48), s/o Kondum of Charangpat who is presently residing at Yairipok Bishnunaha Canal Mapal. 
Ibemcha, wife of Thiyam Deva, who took part in the protest, told the media that her residence is located next the weaving industry of MLA Meghachandra. A few days back when some weavers working at the weaving industry dug the ground on the road side to connect the pipe of taped water to their industry. While they were digging, her husband suggested to dig it little backward from the road. The weavers narrated tampered story of the incident. On the 6th of January a worker of MLA Meghachandra identified as Biren came at the residence of Deva and took him away for a talk with the MLA. When Deva met the MLA, he called the weavers and asked whether Deva was the man who spoke against the weavers a few days ago. In that Deva reacted by stating that he was not speaking against them. While he was responding, MLA Meghachandra slapped him.
However, contrary to the incident, MLA filed a complaint charging that he was attempted to stab by Deva’s son. On the other hand police is not accepting the complaint of the victim family.
