The demand by the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) in Manipur to replace the Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill, 2015 which was passed during the 10th session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly with a more comprehensive bill that can guarantee the protection of the indigenous inhabitants of the region has been gathering momentum. As part of the ongoing agitation, student volunteers from nine educational institutions including Galaxy Junior Higher Sec. School, Asian Co-Educational, Comprehensive School, MECI, HRD, Extra Edge, Comet & MEM Higher Sec School along the Imphal-Tiddim road took out a protest rally from Kwakeithel Bazar towards the state assembly, but was stopped by state security personnel at Sega road, Thouda Bhabok Leikai. Irate students who were forced to turn back scattered poles, logs and other debris on their way back. As a result, Imphal -Tiddim road remained blocked for some time until police finally cleared the roadblocks.
