Protest held in Imphal against bomb threat to Manipur University Finance Officer’s residence

Meira Paibis of Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai today staged a sit-in protest against bomb threat targeting the residence of Elangbam Nixon, the Finance Officer of Manipur University, in Imphal West.
The peaceful demonstration, which drew a large crowd, served as a strong denouncement of the act of terrorizing residential areas through the placement of explosives. The women expressed their solidarity with the affected family and their determination to stand against such threats to community safety. It also appealed not to repeat such act in future.
Yesterday evening, at approximately 9 pm, locals discovered a hand grenade wrapped in a black polythene bag hanging at the gate of Nixon Elangbam’s residence, accompanied by a note reading “Unified Command – Last warning.” No authority or individuals has claimed the bomb. Family of Elangbam Nixon also says that they have no personal enmity with any individuals of groups.
This morning, Vice Chancellor Prof. N. Loken and Registrar Dr. Chandbabu of Manipur University visited Nixon Elangbam’s residence to offer support and reassurance in the wake of the alarming incident. Their presence underscored the university’s commitment to the safety and well-being of its staff members.
Source said that the placing of the Bomb could have been related with monetary demand served to the Manipur University by unlawful organizations.
