Villagers of Langthabal, Kongba, Langjing and Langol hills condemned the proposed Ring Road in the periphery of Imphal and demanded the concerned authority to find a different place which will be more suitable construct the ring road.Speaking to media persons today at Manipur Press club, Imphal, a representative of the villagers, Amakcham Oken said the state government is taking up good policies and Imphal Ring Road service is a beautiful project. However, the project is going to destroy many villages and they are not animals or birds that can fly, he said. Various memorandums have earlier submitted to the concerned government to look into the matter however no positive response has been given so far. Considering for the lives of the villagers he demanded the government to find an alternate place which will be more suitable to construct the ring road service. Chairman of Tharol Village, Athon Gangmei said Tharol village is a part of the Manipuri history where in the ancient times the hill was given by the valley king. The village is a symbol of love relation between the valley and hill region. He further said there is no point in taking up any project by the government if the project is destroying the normal lives of the villagers. Instead of destroying the villages where people live the concerned government should find a different route may be at hilly regions where no one lives and demanded the concerned authority to look into the matter as soon as possible.
