Production of Meat Canned Launched

For the first time in the history of Manipur, production of Beef Minthun Meat Canned was launched today by Ksh. Robert Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Chandel District in a function held on Wednesday at Liwachangning Village Community Hall in Chandel District.The Meat Canned which weight 500 grams each was produced by Chandel District Animal Farmers Welfare Union (CHADI-AFWU) under the Technical Supervision of Association of Food Scientists & Technology (India) Manipur Chapter.The launching program was graced by Ksh.Robert Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Chandel as the Chief Guest while Dr. M. Dhaneshwor Singh, Prof. & Head of Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal; Dr. W. Ibomcha Singh, Joint Director Veterinary Chandel and Mutum Santibala Devi, Resource Person of National Pension System, Government of India graced as the presidium members.While speaking at the function, Ksh. Robert singh, DC Chandel said that production of such meat canned was the first of its kind not only for the District alone but its for the whole State too.He further said that producing such meat canned has a prospect of bright future in the State. And it will not only increase the income of the animal farmers, it will also generate more revenue for the State, he added.Apart from assuring to extend possible assistance to the Union in production of the Meat Canned, Robert Singh also encouraged the Union as well as the animal farmers of the District to rear cattles and produce such meat canned in large scale so that we could able to export our products to other parts of the country and abroad.It is worth mention that the Chandel District Animal Farmers Welfare Union has produced 500 Canned of Beef Mithun Meat on trial basis which were manufactured at Food Processing Centre located at Imphal with a Maximum Retail Price of Rs. 260 per Can.
